The field “Dates” allows to search for the date of a document or a date in a document. The index of the dates, available through , gives the chronological list of the dates present in the documents, in the form DD.MM.YYYY. The Index refers back to the date expressed in the text, even if this is implicit, for example in the words “next Tuesday”.
To select a date, click on , then click on a date in the list or type the first numbers of a date in the field “Search” and then click on the date in the list.
One can also just write the year (YYYY), the month (MM), month and year (MM.YYYY) or day and month (DD.MM). For dates of the French Republican calendar you do not know the date in the Gregorian calendar or such dates as “Easter 1839”, search in the field “What are you looking for ?”
To get incomplete dates (i.e. month or year unknown), tick the box “Include incomplete dates”. The index begins with the year 0000 = unknown year and ends with the indication “No date”.
The fields “Start date” and “End date” allow to show only results between these dates. A precise date can be selected by writing this date in the form DD.MM.YYYY or through the calendar on the right.
Click on to start the search.
The dates that recur from year to year (e.g. : “School reopens on 1st October”) are not in the index.
